Soft tissue structures of the the spine are the muscles, ligaments, fascia that support and surround the bony column. Injury to these structures can occur due to significant force applied to these structures causing failure or repetitive trauma. The neck, mid-back, or low back may be affected. Commonly, pain occurs in the region of injury but may radiate in the territory of the soft tissue.
