An somatosenory evoked potential test (SSEP) is helpful in evaluating the spinal cord function and the sensory part of nerves. This test involves the use of electrodes placed into the body (needles) at various points of interest and then the electrodes are hooked to a special machine which produces an analyzable pattern of nervous system function.
